Chuck Norris and 30 Days of Blogging: Honesty

Firstly, and perhaps most importantly, I have a tumblr. See it here! It is dedicated solely to my strange obsessions and abundance of free time. However, I wanted to start a blog where I actually, I don't know, had written words. I am an english major so hopefully over time you will see an increase in intelligent writing. Who's to say? To start this rolling I will be participating in 30 Days of Blogging Honesty. This will end in a currently unnamed dare which hopefully resembles none of the dares I committed in high school.

And so... here we go. Day 01 — The one thing that it seems like everyone else on the planet is into but I just cannot stand is…

Chuck Norris. I do not understand the entire Chuck Norris obsession, and at this point in my life have grown to resent it quite a bit. From what I have gathered he cannot be defeated in any way, shape, or form. He is better/stronger than the earth, Superman, your favorite animal, etc. Well this honey badger doesn't give a shit. The sheer irrationality of this ongoing joke plagues me. To be totally informed of Chuck Norris, I went ahead and looked up his IMDB. Right from the start we see a picture of Chuck Norris in a blazing picture of him holding a giant gun and menacingly (yet full of justice, I'm sure) gazing ahead. The background is a simple color blend of yellow to black. Right. This is totally normal so far.

Assuming he gained fame in "Walker, Texas Ranger", which I must admit I watched many episodes of sitting on my Grandma's floor on my yearly trips to Texas to visit my father, I garner he was massively typecasted in every single role thereafter. "Sons of Thunder," "Martial Law," "The President's Man: A Line in the Sand." The only thing worse than these campy movie titles is the fact that his actual first movie was in 1968. ("The Wrecking Crew.") How wrong I have been about this time frame! This pulls up another point: Chuck Norris was born in 1940. This man is over 70 years old. Chuck Norris has endured 70 years + of being Chuck Norris. The websites, the jokes, the puns, the terrible plot lines and flat character arcs. The only one more annoyed with Chuck Norris jokes than me is probably Chuck Norris himself.

Also: Taylor Swift after the line "Didn't you think I was too young to be messed with?" My response: Are you an adult? Then put on your big girl panties, cause it is a bumpy ride.
